One of the other modes that has interested me so far in Radio is the PSK digital mode. This is another narrow bandwidth mode that is usable at low S/N ratios. It involves connecting the audio from the radio to the computer and using the computer to decode the signal. Fldigi provides a waterfall feature to aid in spotting the signals and also a viewer which decodes several signals around the current frequency.
The waterfall in fldigi enables you to see the weaker signals amongst the stronger ones. It also allows you to scan around the psk section of the band to find the busiest part. You can see what type of PSK the signal is by it's width. To get the best from this display you can set the mic input on the PC low so that the signals are the only things that are visible in the waterfall. This makes them easier to spot.
Fldigi is also able to 'spot' the heard station information to a website so that it can be viewed on a Google map with some details like distance and direction. If the radio is connected and under the control of fldigi the spot will also include the band and mode details.
